Introduction:The National Geographic Society has been around since 1888, "For the increase and diffusion of geographic knowledge." Recently, the editors have been hearing that young people are not really learning enough about the world around them. The editors are not sure that these disturbing facts are true as the Earth and its people are undergoing so many changes. So, they have decided to add a new branch to their geographic journalistic reporting by and for teenagers. They would like teenagers to design an online web site or GEO-JOURNALS about different countries. In order to choose the first group of geo-journalists, they are initiating a competition for the best web site that is a travel journal proving young peoples' geographic literacy for countries in Latin America.
Task:You all want to be the group that becomes the first group of teenage GEO-Journalists to work for National Geographic. In addition, you also want to learn about your chosen Latin American country. To get the job and have a great travel adventure, your group will design a web site of your trip that includes a travel journal. Each group will work together but have different roles. Together you will design a site that not only represents your chosen Latin American country but that proves each members' geographic literacy based on the National Geography Standards.
