Mock Interview Questions for Mentors
General Questions:
1. What are your career interests? What about that career interests you? How or when did this interest start?
2. In what academic activities have you participated? In what extracurricular activities have you participated? Which activities have you enjoyed the most? Why?
3. How do you spend your spare time? What are your hobbies or interests outside of school?
4. What courses in school do you like best? Least? Why?
5. What jobs have you held? How were they obtained and why did you leave? What were the good things about working (as an experience, not just in that particular environment)? The bad things?
6. Do you prefer working alone or with others? Why?
7. Tell me about a boss you liked; what was positive about working with that boss?
8. What are your plans after high school?
9. If I talked to your teachers, what would they tell me about you? What would your friends tell me about you?
Specific Qualifying Questions:
1. What attracted you to the Law Academy?
2. Why do you want to work at this office?
3. What kind of position are you most interested in?
4. Why do you think you would like this particular type of job?
5. What hours can you work? (School year/Summer) Do you have any problem with these working hours? (List hours desired.)
6. Have you planned how you would get to our facility?
7. How many days have you missed or been late to school this year?
8. Are you familiar with computers? What software packages do you know? (Mac/IBM)
