Part I Interview a family member or someone close to you, about her pregnancy. This may be your mother, aunt, sister, or other female family member who has given birth to at least one child.  Translate the following questions into the preferred language of the family member and record her answers.

• Describe the first month of pregnancy: When did you first notice that you might be pregnant? What changes occurred in your monthly cycle?
• What changes in your body occurred in the first three months of pregnancy?
• When did you first begin to notice swelling in your abdomen?
• When did you first begin to feel the movement of the unborn child?
• What was difficult about your pregnancy?
• Describe the birth of your child in complete detail.
• Were there complications in the birth of your child? Describe them.
• Where did you give birth?
• Who assisted in the birth?
• What decisions did you have to make about the birth of your child?
• Describe the infancy of your child’s life.
   

  Part II  Write and illustrate book to explain pregnancy, childbirth, and infancy to a younger person close to you. Use words, pictures, and diagrams.
